Show Us Your Life // Alma Maters

Today, over at Kelly's Korner she is sharing about her AWESOME alma mater, and I am going to share my story as well! My college story is a little confusing, but has a great ending!

I started out attending a community college, Tarrant County College, for not 1, not 2, but THREE years. I think I took every course they offered! Just kidding, but seriously haha. I had no clue what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I just ended up taking all of my basic courses and a few art classes which opened the door to graphic design. BINGO! I knew what I wanted to do now, and I needed to get the heck out of community college ASAP!

My sister attended Ouachita (Wash-ih-taw) Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR. I would visit once or twice a year to see her as well as this AMAZING production called Tiger Tunes. Deep down I always wanted to go there because it was a small school, as well as a Christian school, but wasn't sure if it was the right fit for me. Boy was I WRONG! I applied, got accepted and transferred in as a junior.

The classes and the professors at OBU are top notch. I loved the art program, and how accepting all the professors and students were. The graphic design classes and the students who were in them made me wish so badly I didn't wait 3 years to apply to this school.

Being older didn't stop me from getting involved in the social clubs (which are like sororities/fraternities) on campus. I knew the second I set foot on that campus I was going to be a Tri Chi because not only was my sister a Tri Chi, but I had gotten to know a lot of the members through my sister, and they are the sweetest girls!

I was in PC '06 (PC oh small army!) and was blessed beyond measure to be a part of that pledge class. So many friendships and memories were made and I will never forget them!

The whole club presenting Andy Westmoreland with the news of being an Honorary Beau!

I was also a lil sis for Chi Iota Sigma!
My husband's social club!

...Which brings me to probably the best part of my college years! Yes it's cliche, but it's also a God thing! The timing was all planned by God, those long 3 years in community college all led up to me meeting my future husband. We met [in person] on registration day. Yes, we technically "met" online, on a blogging forum for OBU students. I was looking on that website to see if I could meet anyone ahead of time so I wasn't totally a lost duckling on the first day of school. I saw his blog and thought he was a current student so I sent him an email asking some questions about the school. Turns out he was actually going to be a freshman that year (he is WAY too mature for his age!). So that brings us to registration day, we planned to meet up at the Waffle House to get to know each other and then head over to the campus.

Long story short, it was 2 years of friendship, nearly 2 years of dating, 9 months of being engaged, and we've been married almost 2 years now! So, yep, that was the best part of my OBU experience!

So there ya go, my little OBU story in a nut shell! I so badly hope and pray that our future kids will attend OBU too! I just know they will have the best time of their lives. :)
