2 weeks old & a check up

Today Caleb is 2 weeks old! He has had another great week and is still such a chill baby. He sleeps in 3 hour increments with one 4 hour stretch during the night. Matt and I appreciate that a lot! He usually wakes up on his own when he's ready to eat, we rarely have to wake him up to eat. He still doesn't cry when he has a dirty diaper so we are still doing the peak and smell tests. Nothing seems to bother this little man!

Caleb looked extra adorable on his first St. Patrick's Day! My mom bought him this cute sleeper after his first doctors appointment last week. No pinches for him that day! :)

He enjoyed his first big thunderstorm this week! He wasn't bothered at all by the bright lightning and loud thunder. I enjoyed some snuggle time with him during the storm, a moment I won't ever forget. :)

Yesterday when I was changing his diaper, we made it all the way to the end and I was putting the new diaper down when he started peeing....all over his face and hair!!! I quickly covered him up with the new diaper but the damage was already done haha. I stripped him down and gave him an impromptu bath, which he hated! After he got all cleaned up I put him in his first Wrightsville Beach, NC t-shirt! Our family goes there almost every other year, and we can't wait to see him playing on the beach in the years to come!

This morning he lost his umbilical cord!! We found it stuck to his sock this morning, gross I know! We are so glad it's finally off now so we can start having real baths now. He is not a fan of these sponge baths!

Today he had his 2 week check up, and it went great! He now weighs 7lbs 8oz (17th percentile), 19.25 inches long (7th percentile) and still has a big head (not sure of the exact number) which is in the 47th percentile. So he's a little dude, but his doctor said it's all normal for his age right now.

He had to have his heel pricked for some state mandated test. He didn't enjoy that but he did a good job handling the pain! We were proud of how he handled it.

After his appointment we headed over to the hospital for my 2 week check up. We had enough time to eat lunch at the cafeteria, which is surprisingly amazing food and super cheap! It was right at noon so it was packed with nurses and doctors. It was pretty cool to see some of the nurses that worked with me during the labor. I was especially happy to see the anesthesiologist who made me feel so calm during the c-section. She remembered us and got to see Caleb all dressed up and cute.

Caleb did ah-maze-ing during the long break! We were unsure how he would handle having his feeding outside of the home and not in his glider. But he did so great and didn't even have one fussy fit. We were proud parents!

After lunch we headed up to my doctors office a little early to show Caleb off to the staff who we really got to know a lot during the pregnancy. They loved him!

Here's Caleb with my amazing doctor on the left and my sweet nurse on the right. I will honestly miss seeing these two all the time!

My doctor checked on my incision and said it looks amazing (it really does, I am shocked at how you can hardly see it!) and said I'll have one more appointment with her in 4 weeks and then I'll be "set free" haha.

I'll end this post with a pic from Caleb's last sponge bath!! We took this last night not knowing it was going to be his last sponge bath, glad we took it! Can't you just smell that sweet baby scent?!
