Fun Weekend!

We had one of those weekends where you hope for many more just like them in the future.

On Friday night we went to our friend's home in Grand Prairie for dinner and to visit. They have a beautiful 6 week old baby girl, it's always fun to get together with other new parents to discuss things we've learned and are still learning. Caleb sat in her pink bumbo during dinner and played with his toys the whole time. It's so nice that he enjoys the bumbo now and will sit in it for more than 2 minutes at a time! Time got away from us and we ended up feeding Caleb around 10pm and putting him to bed around 10:45. We thought since we put him to bed way later than we normally do, that he would sleep later in the morning. No such luck!

Caleb woke up at 7am on Saturday and was the happiest little baby boy! Matt fed him while I got ready for the day. I had a hair appointment at 9am, so while I was gone Matt took Caleb to the mall to walk around and then went to the playground inside the mall to practice his standing. Caleb was SO excited to be with all the big kids! He squealed and smiled and looked up at Matt with a look on his face that said "I want to play with them Daddy!"

Once I got home we headed back out for lunch and to go to Buy Buy Baby to get Caleb a doorway jumper. We thought it would really allow him to exercise his legs and work on standing. We set it up right when we got home and put Caleb in it. At first he was very confused but then got the hang of it and twirled around and bounced up and down. He was so happy! The pictures don't show how happy he was (he just woke up from a nap) but he really did enjoy it!

We ended the fun Saturday with watching the Olympics for the rest of the evening! We love the Olympics and look forward to watching them in the evenings. We will be so sad when they are over!

Sunday was the cherry on top for the weekend. Matt was the guest speaker at our new church since our pastor is on sabbatical. He preached a sermon i've heard him do before, but it hit me a little stronger this time. His sermon was about how we are living our lives to get closer and closer to living the american dream. To have the perfect family, the perfect house, the next job promotion, cars, etc. We are putting those goals in front of living to serve God and we've become spiritually domesticated. It stung a little more this time since we now have a family, we are about to begin the search for our first home and, to be honest, it's all that is on my mind right now. How bad is it for a sermon your husband preaches to make you stop dead in your tracks and think about how off track you really are in your walk with God. Ouch. God really was speaking through Matt on Sunday morning, and it is exactly what I needed to hear. I am so so caught up in my real estate apps on my phone trying to find our perfect first home that I am leaving God totally out of the process! God has it all planned out and I need to focus on Him rather than our "perfect" first home.

After church we had a wonderful lunch with my in-laws, our music minister and his family and a sweet couple we went to college with. It was such a fun time and I am hoping for more and more Sunday's like this one.

Enjoy your week everyone!
