Half a Year Old!

Caleb, it's your half birthday today! Your first 6 months of life have flown by faster than time should ever travel. You are so much fun at this age though! 

We don't take you to the doctor till next week, but I am guessing you are around 16 pounds and 25ish inches long. 

You are wearing 6 month clothes with the occasional 3 month shorts/pants. Most 6 month shorts look like pants on you. 

You are wearing size 2 diapers.

You have five 6 oz. bottles a day. You are still on Nutramigen for your milk protein allergy. We are going to ask your doctor if it's safe to take you off of it soon. 

You have a bowl of rice cereal about an hour before your last feeding. You LOVE it! You gobble it up and look so cute when you eat from a spoon. 

You are still a great sleeper. You are sleeping between 10-11 hours at night, with 2 good naps (1.5-2 hours) during the day. 

You are officially sleeping on your tummy now. Last month you would sleep on your side, but this month you found that sleeping on your tummy is way better. It makes me nervous but you won't sleep any other way. 

You are sitting! We are so very proud of you! A few weeks ago you were pretty wobbly with trying to sit, but last week you mastered it. You will still fall backwards or forwards at times, but you can sit for a long period of time before that happens. 

You're a pro at grabbing toys, picking them up, and taking them from me when I hand you new toys. You are starting to show a little temper and will cry when we take something away from you.

You still like your paci, but you don't need it nearly as much. You've learned how to put it in your mouth all by yourself when you want it. 

You like to "hit" things now. Your right arm will just go crazy and start hitting the floor, chair and your toys.

We think you know what the words "kiss" and "look" mean. When we say "can I have a kiss?" you kiss our cheeks. When we say "kiss your toy" you bring in the toy you are holding and kiss it. It happens over and over, so we don't think it's a coincidence. When we say "look Caleb!" you will look in the direction we are pointing. 

You love to be scared! We will pretend to be talking and then daddy will quickly turn to you and say "boo!" and you will jump and then laugh! This can go on for quite a while! What's really fun is to pile soft toys on top of you and then scare you...the toys go flying and you're left laughing! It's great entertainment! :)

You still don't have any teeth yet, but you are still showing every sign of teething. 

Your hair is starting to grow back! It seems like every day the color of your hair changes..but the new hair looks blonde to me. We'll see!

Your favorite toys this month are: traveling elephant, ducky, Sophie, this squeaking mouse thing, your toy laptop, and your toy camera.

You love being in the church nursery! We peaked in on you a few Sunday's ago and you were on the floor with a 10 month old boy and you were so interested in everything he did. If he crawled away, you would watch where he went. 

You are very observant! You love to check out your surroundings.

Caleb, you are the sweetest boy we know! You get sweeter everyday it seems, and we are so very proud of you. We love you!
