Goodbye wonderful 2nd Trimester, hello what-I-hope-to-be-good 3rd Trimester! I cannot believe i'm in the final 3 months! I know I keep saying this, but the whole pregnancy has flown by so fast and has (for the most part) been a walk in the park.
I don't normally dress up this fancy.....ever. But we were headed to Matt's work party which, conveniently, was on the day I entered the 3rd trimester. We usually wait till Saturday's to take the pictures, but since it's a rare event that i'm ever this dressed up, we decided to take the picture on the actual day. :)
For the longest time I was wondering when I was going to start really showing. I always thought since i'm on the short side the baby won't have anywhere to go but out, WAY out. Well I was right haha, it just took a little longer than I thought. Caleb is not hiding himself very well these days and I am growing out out OUT very quickly. I'm scared to know how I will manage to simply walk when it gets closer to his arrival.
This has been a great week! On Monday I found out that I PASSED my glucose test!!! Praise the Lord! I had a feeling I was going to fail big time because i've pretty much lived off of pasta, bread and chocolate. Ha!
Also on Monday, we got to tour the hospital, which is gorgeous to say the least. Caleb will be born in a castle haha! We learned a lot that night and I am now feeling better about things. One thing that I thought was cool (because i'm such a food lover) was they let us sample some of the food the hospital will offer us during our stay. I was SUPER impressed! I always thought hospital food was slops of mash potatoes and green junk that you didn't realize was food. I'm happy to know we will be fed well, and on our last night we will be served steak AND lobster with a big slice of sinful chocolate cake!
After the tour we headed over to Ikea to buy his bookshelf. I was so excited to get this and it looks perfect in his nursery! We already have a few books and picture frames on it and it looks so cute. His dresser will come in sometime next week, which is the last piece of furniture!
This week he's developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. His wrinkly skin is getting smoother now that he has more fat on his body. His lungs are much more mature now, and if he was born today he would most likely survive. Wow!
Size of baby: a Chinese cabbage (2 1/4 pounds and almost 15 inches)
Total weight gain: around 20 pounds
Maternity Clothes: All the time for the pants, off and on with the maternity tops.
Boy or Girl? It's a BOY!!!!!! Caleb James
Movement: All the time! This week he was practicing his drumming skills. It felt like a jackhammer was going off inside me haha! (but it didn't hurt)
Sleep: Still sleeping really good, and very thankful for it! I'm actually sleeping through the mid-night pee breaks...now that's some deep sleep!
Anything you miss? Not too much, bending over I guess is the main thing.
Cravings? Pasta again, mainly because I was told not to have much of it anymore.
Symptoms: I had some problems with my sciatic nerve again this week, but it has gone away now. I also have been dealing with pretty bad charlie horses in my leg at night. Ouch!
Any fears? Not too many, just wondering how the whole birth will play out. I'm such a planner, and knowing I can't plan ahead for this drives me crazy.
Best moment of the week: Finding out I passed the glucose test and getting his dresser and bookshelf!
