Rough Day

Today was the toughest day so far as a mom, and of course it would happen on Matt's first day away on a business trip!

It started this morning at 5:30. Caleb woke up ready to eat. As I was finishing up putting on his diaper, he had his first big vomit. It went everywhere and it was gross!! I called for Matt's help because it seemed like he was choking too. Once we got him under control I changed his pjs and held him until he was screaming to eat. He took the bottle just fine and burped like normal too. I put him back down around 6:30 and went back to bed myself. At 8am he woke up coughing and spitting up. Matt was going into the office late since he was traveling all day, so he took care of Caleb and tried to get him to eat. He got half the bottle down and then threw it all up. We both got concerned and I called his doctor at 9:00 once they were open.

My doctor said to go ahead and move up his 2 month appointment to tomorrow so she can take a look at what's making him throw up and also do the normal 2 month check up. I'm so glad to go ahead and get that appointment over with!

This afternoon the spit up/vomiting got even worse. It was a constant flow and wasn't letting up. I felt so helpless! I gave him a sponge bath, new clothes and just held him close. He wasn't crying or fussy (only cried if I put him down even for a short time so I could run to the bathroom), so I just held him in my arms. I, on the other hand, was a mess. I was crying because I didn't know what to do, Matt was in College Station (4 hours away) and I just wanted my baby to get the nutrients he needs. He didn't have a fever, so that made me feel better but I was just SO exhausted since this had been going on since 5:30am with no end in site.

Matt called during the middle of my cry-fest saying he was going to call his mom to come over to relieve me. She came over around 4:15 and took over holding him for me. I was able to get an hour long nap, and I felt so refreshed after that! I'm so glad my in-laws live close by so they can be here in minutes when we need help.

My guess is that he is allergic to the new soy formula and will need to go to the extra sensitive formula. I just want my baby boy feeling better ASAP! But I will say, even though he is definitely feeling yucky, he's been all smiles whenever he isn't sleeping!

I'll update the blog tomorrow on how the doctors appointment goes!
