Life Lately

I hate neglecting the blog, but life has been a little crazy lately! A few weeks ago Matt accepted his first full time job! This was an answer to prayer and we are so thankful for this new job. Matt is the new Director of Campus Development for Grad Resources, a ministry based here in Dallas that serves graduate students across the United States through crisis intervention, discipleship groups, and Christian leadership development. This is exactly what he was wanting to do and when he saw the job posting he immediately acted on it. It was a pretty lengthy interview process, but well worth the wait! He found out about this job when I was about 34 weeks pregnant, and after (what seemed like) 20 interviews he was offered the job when Caleb was 4 weeks old. His first day on the job was Monday and he's really enjoying it. This job requires a lot of traveling (next week he will be traveling all day on Tuesday and Friday...meaning he comes home around 10 or 11 at night) and it will be a big adjustment for both of us, but we will make it. (Side note: we are pretty excited about all the airline miles he will be racking in! We will finally get to have a vacation on our own!)

This new job is very flexible and his boss is big on family time, which we love. Matt is going in at 7:30am and leaving at 4:30pm so we can have lots of a family time in the evenings. It's also located in Plano which is SO much closer than driving to downtown Dallas everyday. We met daddy at work for lunch yesterday, which was so much fun!

I started back at work last Monday, but from home. We are allowed up to 12 weeks for maternity leave and I definitely wanted to take all 12 weeks but we couldn't go that long without my income. So they graciously are letting me work part time from home until I return to the office at the end of May. It worked out great last week since Matt was still working part time, so when he got home I would begin working. But this Monday was a different story! Caleb was being super needy and wanted to be held almost the whole day! I was beginning to think this whole work at home thing wasn't going to work out. But on Tuesday I brought out the Baby Bjorn that we are borrowing from my sister. HEAVEN!!!! I am able to "hold" him and work at the same time. I feel like a super mom when I am doing laundry, cranking out a project for work AND having a sleeping baby strapped to me. I know we can't keep this up for too much longer, but I was desperate and it's working for now. He does eventually get tired of being strapped to me and will chill in his bouncer. He's the cutest!

Being a good boy while I work.

So that's why I haven't blogged in awhile haha. We are having so much fun with Caleb and seeing so much change in him. He's a funny little guy! I can't believe he is 7 weeks old and will soon be a big 2 month old boy! I will be honest though....I can't wait for his 2 month doctor's appointment so he will get all of his shots. I will hate seeing him hurt from the shots, but I am ready to feel comfortable with other people holding him. I feel like a huge stress ball whenever we are out in public with him and there are kids around us coughing. I cringe inside! Yes, i'm being over protective, but oh well. :)
