First Easter

I am finally sitting down to write the Easter post! Better late than never, right?

We started the day off bright and early at 6am with every alarm going off! My alarm, Matt's alarm and Caleb. It was a little intense. Somehow we managed to get ourselves dressed and ready, Caleb fed, gave him his Easter basket and had a tiny photo shoot, and on the road at 7:30am! Matt was playing violin during the service, so we had to be there at 8am for him to practice.

Caleb did amazing the whole time! He was alert half the time, and slept the rest of the time. I tried to go to my Sunday School class but Caleb wanted to be on the move instead, so I strolled him around until he conked out.

I was extremely nervous about taking him to church this early in his life, but I really didn't want to miss out on his first Easter church service! We had a few moments where I got pretty defensive. A few people started coming up to him and instantly touching his hands and even his face. I quickly told them to please not touch him because he hasn't had any shots yet. Then I had someone tell me how wrong I am for giving him a pacifier and that thumb sucking is better. I simply said "well you can't cut a thumb off..." and that was that. For the record, I have no problem with thumb sucking but I DO have a problem when you tell me what is good and bad for my own son. Shortly after that scene a woman came over to see Caleb and asked me if I was breastfeeding. If you read this post you'll know how touchy that topic is to me. I told her I wasn't and her response was "ohh that's too bad, he would be so much healthier." I was shocked she just told me that!!! Thankfully the service was starting so she left. I thought the birth horror stories were bad during the pregnancy....I didn't know how hurtful the comments would be once he got here.

I left a little before the service ended so I could change his diaper and feed him. We never got to the feeding part because he had a huge poopy diaper and then managed to pee all over his cute Easter outfit! By the time I got his outfit changed the service was over and we needed to leave. So we pushed his feeding back an hour and boy was he not happy about that!

That evening we went over to Matt's grandparent's house for Easter dinner with the whole family. We had a great time and Caleb did very good when being passed around to everyone who wanted to hold him.

I think Caleb's first Easter went very well, minus the few hiccups, but certainly one to remember! Holidays are so much more fun with a little baby, and we are looking forward to all of his first holidays this year!
