Christmas Kick-Off Weekend

This post will be more pictures than words, but I kind of like those better anyways :)

We had a fun weekend welcoming the Christmas holiday! Matt did such a good job planning all the events, even if they all didn't go as planned. You'll see :)

On Sunday morning, Matt went to church (it was his turn to teach Sunday School) and I stayed home with Caleb to be on the safe side. He was acting like his normal self again, but I didn't want to be those parents who bring their sick child to church and getting all the kids sick. We had a good morning and I was able to pack everything we needed for the hotel stay that night.

After a quick lunch at home, we headed to the hotel, got settled in and then walked around Legacy Town Center in hopes of seeing Santa. The website said he would be walking around taking pictures with the kids, but he was nowhere to be found. Oh well, we are still planning to make a trip to the mall soon so he can sit on his lap.

After walking around for a while we stopped at Starbucks and got this yummy cookie to share. Poor Caleb just stared at us with puppy dog eyes wanting a little lick.

We then went back to the hotel to try to get Caleb down for a nap. That was very unsuccessful, but we had a fun time watching Caleb roll and crawl all over the king size bed. He had SO much fun!

This pretty fountain was outside of the hotel. It was so peaceful walking around the little lake before everything got crazy that night!

We walked to a local pizza place for dinner. Seriously good pizza! Once we finished, it was getting dark outside and the lights on the trees were all lit! It was so pretty!

We made our way down to the big tree and found a good spot for the parade and Christmas Tree lighting. We thought the parade started at 6, but we were wrong. It started at 6:30 instead. During that (what seemed to be) long wait, Caleb had had enough. He normally never has a fit, but boy did he throw one that time! After probably 15 minutes, he fell asleep on my shoulder and I put him down in his stroller for him to sleep. What do you know, the second I put him down, the parade started. He slept through the entire thing! Poor baby hadn't slept much all day, so nothing was going to wake him up. I'm sure people around us were thinking he was deaf for sleeping through all the noise. (Yes, he can hear! He passed his hearing screening test at the hospital, he's good! Just a very hard sleeper!)

Shortly after the parade ended, they turned the lights on the big tree! It was a really fun experience, I just wish Caleb was able to see it. :)

Caleb woke up about 10 minutes after the tree lighting, so we walked over to a little grocery store and picked up some snacks for the night. Caleb wanted to pick something out too, look at the little sneaky finger!

---------------------------------------

The next morning we woke up, chilled in bed for awhile and then got ready for the day. Up to this point Caleb was showing NO signs of being sick anymore, but when we were about to head out the door his tummy started hurting him again. We've never heard him scream in pain like this before! Within about 30 minutes he had 5 poopy diapers. We are thinking he was a little constipated due to the medicine we had to give him. That is a yucky side effect.

Since Caleb was obviously not doing very good, we canceled our morning breakfast Matt had planned. We went home and I just held Caleb till he fell asleep. He eventually started feeling much better, so we had a late breakfast around 1:30 haha.

Caleb took a good 2 hour nap that afternoon....and so did I! I didn't plan on sleeping that long, but oh well. Because of the long nap, we decided to not put the Christmas tree up that night. I know! I was so sad! That is what the whole weekend was building up to, but as we have quickly learned, you can't always stick to plans with a baby. Especially one that just got over being sick.

We will put the tree up Wednesday night instead, which I am perfectly ok with!

If you made it this far, congratulations! This post turned out to be way longer than I had thought it would be! Whoops!
